Building a steady routine in the chaos of everyday life

Every time I try to build a routine, something unexpected pops up — late work hours, family stuff, or just feeling too tired — and suddenly the whole plan falls apart. I want to find a way to make small habits stick even when life feels messy, but I haven’t figured out how to keep them going during stressful weeks. How do you make a routine that doesn’t collapse as soon as things get chaotic?

I’ve struggled with that too, and what helped me was making routines flexible instead of rigid. For example, instead of “read 20 minutes every night,” I switched it to “open a book every day,” even if I only read a page. That way I keep the streak alive without beating myself up when I’m busy. I read the Liven app review, and it reminded me that sometimes the real win is just showing up in small ways, especially on the tough days.
