Attachment theory is one of the most well-researched theories in the field of relational psychology and is foundational in my work with individuals, couples, and families.
Attachment theory describes how our early relationships with a primary caregiver, most commonly a parent, creates our expectation for how love should be. In our adult relationships, our attachment system can be triggered by our romantic partners. This is due to the fact that we may have adapted to our earlier experiences differently than our partner.
This relationship quiz is about how well you know your partner.
After doing extensive research for over four decades with thousands of couples, we’ve found that one of the most important components of a successful relationship is the quality of friendship between partners. And that requires knowing your partner’s likes, dislikes, needs, desires, beliefs, fears, and life dreams.
So, how well do you really know your partner? Take our quiz below to find out.
This quiz, provided by Terry Hatkoff, a California State University sociologist, can determine how you define love in a relationship. To get the most out of the quiz, take it with your partner and compare results. You'll learn the similarities and differences in how each of you defines love.
